Terry Fox Run

Sep 19, 2010 Add comment
Today is the 30th anniversary of the Terry Fox run, and I just got back from helping at the registration table.

(And, proving this is a small world, I was chatting with one of my teachers from St. Michaels College School!)

A great turnout. Most came from Aurora, but some folks came down from Barrie. They ranged in ages from about 18 months to 80 years and activity from walking, bicycling, rollerblading to running.

I remember when Terry Fox ran through this area. Henny’s step-mother and aunt were visiting from Holland and we wanted to take them to see this amazing young man. We ended up driving up north of Bradford and just parked by the side of the road and waited for him to come by.

In what had to be one of the classiest acts that I have experienced, Terry thanked us for being there!

My thanks to all the volunteers and participants. It is invigorating to see such support for these events.
