Accountability is the key to high performance organizations – it is the process and language of transferring strategies into reality. It starts with understanding the truth and carries on throughout all the actions of the organization.
It is not just about tax dollars, although that is obviously important. It is the understanding that we are responsible to the electorate not once every 4 years, but every day. It is the understanding that there is a duty to provide value to the residents and to provide an open and transparent accounting.
It is not about hiding behind policies and procedures to sidestep that responsibility.
Accountability is about recognizing and praising the things that are good and correcting the things that are not. And, it's about doing that with dignity and respect.
MY ACCOUNTABILITY COMMITMENTS
Town Facilities
Town owned facilities continue to sit empty or underused. These facilities cost taxpayers' money and provide no value in return. I commit to review the inventory and develop a plan for utilization within the first year of my term.
Planning
Developing an Official Plan is mandated by the Province. Council has overridden expert staff and consultant advice and not met their deadlines. Resultant decision-making has been stripped from this Council and is now in the hands of the OMB. I commit to leveraging internal and external resources to ensure that complex processes, such as the Official Plan Review and long term financial planning, will be completed in a timely manner.
Strategic Plan
Developing a Strategic Plan for our community will be a first order of business for this Town
